The atmosphere of Cuban towns is accentuated by low night lighting, and the dramatic nature of the small town of Baracoa was heightened too by severe tropical storms. La Raza artists Gerald Pedros, Esther Rausenberg and Brian Saby and I came here for a respite after two weeks of working in the heat of  Santiago on the mural Point of Contact, January 2011.(see mural section) I used multiple overlaid blocks to suggest fragmentation of time and place, at what i see is a turning point in Cuban history.
